Active carbon

Activated carbon is pure and higly porous carbon with a large surface area (of up to 300 m² per gram). It is typically used as an adsorbent.

Automatic movement device

Dry-run protection

Electronic monitoring of motor currents protects the pump from dry running, overheating and overload.
If the above mentioned operating states are not absolutely impossible with your installation, you should use an electronic process monitor to switch off the pump before it is damaged. Such monitors will not only avoid damage to the pump, but also downtime and costs resulting thereof. At the same time, the monitor checks the pumping process for the set delivery rate. Once the cause of a malfunction is eliminated, the pump is immediately ready to continue operation. The process monitor is easy to install into the pump’s power supply unit. As it is not necessary to build it into pipe runs, this process monitor also is ideal to retrofit existing installations. Four different types of process monitors are available.

Hot running

“Hot running” describes the increase in temperature of a fluid which is caused by a closed pressure- and/or suction pipe. Liquid is circulating within the pump, however this liquid is not transported out of the pump housing and so the heat can not be transferred by the fluid. During circulating within the pump housing the fluid will be heated. This increase in temperature can be so high that damages at the pump parts may be caused.

Magnet coupling

A magnet coupling consists of a drive magnet, which is form fitted with the motor shaft (the drive) and an inner magnet that is driven by the magnet forces. Both parts are hermetically separated by a rear casing.

Magnetically coupled centrifugal pumps

Permanent magnets convey the motor drive to the pump impeller without any contact. Thus, there is no shaft exit requiring an appropriate sealing joint. The wet part and the dry part of the pump hermetically separated from each other by the rear casing so that leakages through worn sealings are definitely ruled out. The pump does not require any maintenance since optimum sealing is ensured by no need of sealing joints at all.

Membrane cartridge

A membrane cartridge is used for filtration of very small particles.

Sealing

In general there are two different types of sealing: static sealing, with two immovable surfaces (e.g. flange connections with a flat seal), and a dynamic sealing with two movable surfaces (e.g. radial sealing, axial face seal).

Self priming

Self-priming centrifugal pumps are able to transfer fluids, although the inflow level is below the suction port of the pump.

Vanadium redox battery

The vanadium redox battery is a type of rechargeable flow battery that employs vanadium ions in different oxidation states to store chemical potential energy.
The vanadium redox battery exploits the ability of vanadium to exist in solution in four different oxidation states, and uses this property to make a battery that has just one electroactive element instead of two.
The main advantages of the vanadium redox battery are that it can offer almost unlimited capacity simply by using larger and larger storage tanks, it can be left completely discharged for long periods with no ill effects, it can be recharged simply by replacing the electrolyte if no power source is available to charge it, and if the electrolytes are accidentally mixed the battery suffers no permanent damage.
The main disadvantages with vanadium redox technology are a relatively poor energy-to-volume ratio, and the system complexity in comparison with standard storage batteries.
